comprises lawyers with many years of experience in all
classes of non-marine insurance. We are one of the largest
dedicated non-marine insurance practices in Singapore.
Our lawyers handle claims involving all classes of
non-marine insurance such as Public Liability, Professional
Indemnity, Fidelity Guarantees, Directors’ &
Officers’ Liability, Errors & Omissions, Contractors’
All-Risk, Workmen Compensation, Motor Insurance and
Business Interruption. We have experience in dealing
with multi-million dollar claims representing both insurers
and policyholders who are provided defence through the
provisions of the policy.
We represent a wide base of insurers, insurance brokers
and other players in the insurance market.
Some of the more significant cases handled by our
lawyers include:
- a $25 million business interruption claim arising
from the Dec 2004 tsunami;
- several high profile fraud claims made on fire risk
policies;
- a large product recall/business interruption claim
arising from the well-publicised Pan Pharmaceuticals
recall in Australia;
- a $27 million cement silo failure;
- some of Singapore’s largest road traffic-related
personal injury claims;
- the workmen compensation claims arising from the
Solitaire matter;
- a product liability claim connected to paint sold
and applied on an oil rig in the South China sea;
- the reported decision of Siu Brothers v Norwich
Winterthur Insurance (1993), the only local decision
at the time defining the scope of a bailee’s
liability policy;
- averting a $9 million performance bond call in relation
to one of our largest local building contractors;
- a 17-day arbitration concerning a personal health
insurance claim.
